Stress is actually what results when we react negatively to issues and situations around us. Unemployment is a major cause of Stress

This whole process has severe impact on the mind and body if not well managed. During episodes of stress, your heart begins to race, breathing quickens, muscle tighten, Blood pressure rises, dehydration occurs, etc.

If these occur for a long period of time, sickness results.

Unemployment can result in chronic stress which is the worst type of stress.

HOW TO MANAGE JOB SEARCHING STRESS

1. KNOW THAT THE SITUATION IS TEMPORAL

Be kind to yourself and not too hard.
Cut yourself some slack. Being too hard on yourself can cause severe stress but all stress results from within and not without.

2. ACCEPT THE REALITY AND WORK TO FIND SOLUTION:

Many people had this confidence that their uncle, parents, etc have promised them great jobs. They become depressed when things don’t turn out right. Know that you are not alone. About 29 million Nigerians are unemployed. This fact helps you to relax.

3. MAKE LOOKING FOR JOB YOUR CURRENT JOB:

Devote your time and energy in searching for a good job. Always take out time to relax when the pressure starts mounting. You can be happy even if you are not employed. Happiness a is a choice. A good disposition to live attracts good things to you. Tell yourself every day that you will get a good job. The law of attraction kicks in. I saw myself featured on African Independent Television mentally before they invited me. Avoid depression by all means.

4. CHECK YOUR THOUGHT PATTERN :

Your life is modelled after your thoughts. Learn to network with friends and colleagues.

5. VOLUNTEERING:

Volunteering is a great stress reliever. Many people have gotten jobs by offering their services free of charge.
