Meet the Commissioner for Environment who is a Medical Lab. Scientist

    A good number of Medical Laboratory Scientists are doing very well for themselves on the political space and the recent appointment of a Medical Laboratory Scientist as a Commissioner for Environment and Petroleum goes to show this fact. 

     Let’s meet Dr. Ikechukwu Njoku, the recently appointed Imo State honourable Commissioner for Environment and Petroleum.

     Dr. Ikechukwu Njoku had his Primary school education at St. Peter Clever School, Kafanchan Kaduna State before proceeding to the Holy Ghost Junior Seminary Ihiala and Government College Umuahia for his secondary school education.

     He had his professional certificate from University College Hospital Ibadan and acquired a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Medical Laboratory Science (Microbiology) and Masters of Science (M.Sc) in Medical Parasitology and Entomology from Imo State University. And later obtained a Ph.D in Medical parasitology with bias in Enteric Protozoology from the same University.

    He is a renowned Medical Laboratory Scientist by Profession with decades of practice in the field. The active member of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) and other professional bodies has been on private practice since finishing his mandatory one year National Youth Service.

     Dr. Njoku before his appointment as a commissioner by the Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma had held the following positions:

    1. A former Council Chairman of Aboh Mbaise LGA.
    2. A former Sole Administrator Aboh Mbaise LGA.
    3. A former State Coordinator National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) representing the Presidency in IMO State in that Capacity. 
    4. A Former Federal Board Member, National Veterinary Research Institute, Vom. 

    Dr. Ikechukwu Vitalis Njoku, Ph.D hails from Umuaghara, Obibi in Nguru, Aboh Mbaise, LGA of Imo State and happily married with children.

     Encomium has continued to pour in for the Medical Laboratory Scientist turned politician from the Young Medical Laboratory Scientists Forum Imo State Branch and it’s parent body the association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) Imo State branch.

     Sct. Bright Nwadialu, YMLSF Imo State Chairman in a congratutory message praised the appointment saying the appointment is well deserved and expressed confidence that the honourable Commissioner will excel excellently in the discharge of his discharge.

    AMLSN Imo State branch on their part thanked the Governor of Imo State for considering the appointment of a Medical Laboratory Scientist into his cabinet and expressed the optimism that the Governor will deliver on his mandate.
