HOW GREEDY ELDERS ARE DESTROYING THE MLS PROFESSION; A CASE STUDY OF THE HOD OF GENERAL HOSPITAL, IKOT OKORO.

By Ekemini Raymond

A house divided against itself can not stand and when the center cannot hold, things fall apart.

Greediness of the highest order is when a Head of Department (HOD) who earns in hundreds of thousand naira as take home will be justified to collect peanuts to teach Industrial Training (IT) students in the hospital laboratory just to sabotage the profession.

Many of these type of greedy men do not have their children in the profession.
Year in, year out, thousands of MLS are graduated into the already saturated labour market and yet someone who was gainfully employed and rose to the position of HOD is here killing the profession gradually.

I hereby call on the leadership of AMLSN in the state and all relevant authorities to invade the laboratory unit of General Hospital IKOT OKORO and evacuate those biochemistry students and other IT students who have been taught medical laboratory procedure for some months now.

It has been gathered that this HOD is just posted some months ago to this facility and is already engaging himself in this notorious act.

Of what use is the DMLS and the faculty we are celebrating when our greedy elders are on the verge of killing the profession.
