The judgement of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) sacking the incumbent National President of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) came to many as a surprise especially at a time many are preparing for the Association’s 59th National Scientific Conference billed for November this year.

The National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) sitting in Abuja on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 sacked the National President of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) — Prof. James Garba Damen from parading himself as the national President of the Association.

The court ruled that since the election that produced Prof. Damen as National President was conducted on November 16 2020, he was ineligible to contest the office of National President having been holding a subsisting office of National Secretary whose term was supposed to end on the midnight of November 18, 2020.

The implication of the judgement as the court ordered is that the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Association should take over the Association and swear in Dr. Uche Odionyenma immediately as the National President of the Association.

The National Executive Officers of the Association have reacted to the judgement. Click here to read.
