ISO 15189:2022: MLSCN trains Lab Managers and Quality Officers

Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has commenced a 4-day capacity-building workshop for laboratory managers and quality officers, at its headquarters in Abuja.

The workshop is focused on transitioning to the updated ISO 15189:2022 standard, as well as equipping participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to align their systems with the revised international standard for medical laboratories.

‎In his opening remarks, the Acting Registrar/CEO of MLSCN, Dr. Donald I. Ofili, reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to strengthening quality systems in Nigerian laboratories.

‎He emphasized the importance of continuous training and retraining in sustaining global best practices and ensuring compliance with evolving international standards.

‎The workshop’s technical sessions began with Mr. Victor Edet Essien, one of the facilitators, who provided an overview of “Quality Management Systems (QMS), an introduction to ISO 15189:2022”, while highlighting the major changes in the revised version.

‎Following this, Mrs. Ahunanya Ijeoma delivered a session on the “Scope, Normative References, and Terms and Definitions of ISO 15189:2022”.
