AMLSN pays a congratulatory visit to NCDC DG

Members of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) have paid a visit to the newly appointed Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa, to congratulate him on his appointment.

 

The National President of the Association Prof. James Damen led other members on the congratulatory visit and they were warmly received by the Director-General in his conference room. Ifedayo Morayo Adetifa, an associate professor of infectious diseases epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine was appointed Director-General as a replacement to Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu who was called to serve the Global Health body, the World Health Organization as an Assistant Director-General for Health Emergency Intelligence.  

 

According to Premium Times, Dr. Adetifa obtained his medical degree at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Kwara State, and was trained in Paediatrics and Child Health at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital where he received the Fellowship of the West Africa College of Physicians in Paediatrics in 2005.

Among members on the visit were the Chairman of AMLSN Federal Capital Territory Branch, Dr. Ironkwe Okechukwu, National Publicity Secretary AMLSN Billyrose Soji, AMLSN Executive Secretary Dr. Godwin Ihimekpen, and Others.  

 

Many have hailed the visit as a step in the right direction as it will go a long way to fostering the existing good working relationship between the NCDC and the Association.
