World TB Day: NGO organises free Medical outreach

As part of activities to commemorate this year’s World TB Day, a Non Governmental Organization, Zeeb Healthcare Development Initiative has held a Medical Outreach.

 

The outreach was held at Biseni Clan, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State in collaboration with Bayelsa State Tuberculosis, Leprosy, and Buruli Ulcer Program and Heartland Alliance Bayelsa State.

 

Speaking to newsmen, the Founder of the Zeeb Healthcare Development Initiative, Zebedee Loveday Udu noted that the World TB Day Outreach saw a remarkable turnout, with 120 participants comprising individuals of various age groups, including the elderly, youths, and children.

He continued that the event did not only provide essential healthcare services to the community but also served as a platform for education, awareness, and community empowerment in the fight against TB and HIV/AIDS.

 

 

He assured that building on the success of the outreach, his NGO plans to continue organizing similar events and expanding its reach to other communities in Bayelsa State.

Stressing that collaborating with local health authorities, NGOs, and community leaders will remain a cornerstone of these initiatives to ensure sustainability and effectiveness in addressing public health challenges.

World TB Day is commemorate on the 24 of March of every year. The theme of World TB Day 2024 – ‘Yes! We can end TB!’ – conveys a message of hope that getting back-on-track to turn the tide against the TB epidemic is possible through high level leadership, increased investments and faster uptake of new WHO recommendations.
