The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) is ready to start the validation of Rapid Test Kits that have been imported into the country for the screening of COVID-19.

MLSCN says the validation is in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

MLSCN advises all importer and dealers of laboratory diagnostic kits especially COVID-19 to submit same to the Council headquarters at Plot 1166 Mohammed Umar Lane, Durumi District.

Council frowns at a situation where COVID-19 test kits are being sold and utilized for screening of COVID-19 viral infection without appropriate validation of these kits to ensure their sensitivity and specificity.
