The national president of the Association of female Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AFMLSN), Dr. Lawrena Okoro has charged female Medical Laboratory Scientists to work on being positive agents of change and keep blazing their trail in their quest to overcome the challenges associated with career development.
Dr. Lawrena Okoro, who was recently appointed deputy registrar in charge of IVD and EQA inspectorate of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) gave the charge while speaking on ‘Challenges of Career development faced by women’ at a recently held event organized by the AFMLSN Lagos state Branch.
Dr. Okoro further advised female Medical Laboratory Scientists to learn how to balance their career and family stressing that it is a lot easier to develop one’s career in that way.
Her words: “It’s a lot easier to develop your career when you know what exactly you can give to your career and what you can give to your family.”
On her part, Mrs. Grace Bello, who spoke on “women in Leadership achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world” stressed that women should be encouraged and be given more opportunities to lead because of their inherent qualities.
She noted that women’s full and effective participation in decision making in public life as well as being empowered is important for sustainable post COVID-19 world and better future.
In the same vein, the immediate past Chairperson AFMLSN Lagos State Branch Mrs. Yomi Newton did justice to the topic: ‘Leadership challenges and mentorship among Professionals’.
The event held virtually saw the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Swearing in of new Executive officers for AFMLSN Lagos State Branch as well as awards conferment on some deserving individuals.
